...theatre, dance, films, poetry, exhibitions, talks and storytelling...
At the Chelsea Theatre we feel that stories have value and that everyone has the right to be heard, but we often hear from members of our community that they feel voiceless. To combat this, Chelsea Theatre is combining our roles as a community and arts centre to shape ourselves as a place of storytelling for unheard and denied voices.
To launch this strategy, we are holding the first edition of our storytelling festival: HUSH Festival, a week-long celebration full of stories, storytellers, and listeners. At HUSH, we start with the following questions:

SHARING – How can we create an environment that encourages citizens to share stories that have not yet been heard?

SHAPING – How do we structure a relationship between these storytellers and creative professionals that is truly collaborative and produces high-quality cultural output?

SHOWING – How do we ensure that these stories reach those who most need to hear them?

Join us from 14 to 20 June for 7 days of theatre, dance, films, poetry, exhibitions, talks and storytelling performances. HUSH is a pay-in-kind festival, where participants book their seats and, in return, share a story with us (find out more about our STORY HARVEST clicking here).
As the sun sets on the festival, stories we have received will be shared in our final performance, The Hush, where we invite you to gather around the bonfire for an evening of storytelling.
